Frequently Asked Questions

Upper School Library provides a "quiet place to study and research. It has four objectives: to cultivate innovation, citizenship, communication and discovery. The Library helps students grow more technologically competent and aware of their role as global citizens. The librarians work with the teachers to help students access, evaluate and apply information from a rich collection of sources in different media."

How long can I borrow books?

  • Regular (Non-Fiction, Fiction, and Oversize) books : 21 days.
  • Closed Reserve and Reference books : 1 night. Check out the book after-school, return the book by 8 a.m. the next school day.

What is "Closed Reserve"?

Closed Reserve books are used for class projects.  Many students need access to the books so the borrowing time is limited.  Closed Reserve books must be returned the next school day so that classes and students  will have access to the books.

Does the library charge overdue fines?

Regular (Non-Fiction, Fiction, and Oversize) books : $0.15 per day.
Closed Reserve and Reference books : $1.00 per day.
The maximum fine per book is $5.00.

What happens if I lose a book?

You will need to pay for the replacement cost + fines owed + $5.00 processing fee.

How much does it cost to make photocopies?

$0.10 per copy.
The copier accepts $1.00 bills.

Does the copier make two-sided copies?

Can I study in the library?


  • Individually - Quietly and independently.
  • Pairs (2 students).
  • Groups (6 students max) for projects in the Collaboration/Conference Rooms.

Can my group collaborate in the library?

Yes, your group can sign up to use rooms if it is available (classes have priority).

Group projects (6 students max).

  • to brainstorm/problem solve using the whiteboards.
  • to project digital presentations in order to edit/practice presentations.
  • to film digital presentations.

Library Hours

  • Mondays - Thursdays: 6:30 am to 7:30 pm.
  • Fridays - 6:30 am to 4:30 pm.
  • Sundays - 1:00 to 5 pm.
