NoodleTools: AI

  • Includes links to the style guides on citing AI in MLA, APA, and Chicago.
  • NoodleTools Instructions on how to access the form for citing AI tools. [Where it it? and What is it?]
  • APA and Chicago also discuss conditions where a student might cite a specific AI output only in-text (or in a footnote). So NoodleTools provides clear instructions about that as well.

NoodleTools: Chicago Style AI Citations Tip

If the AI prompt/output you are citing does not have a publicly-available link, Chicago style suggests citing the source in footnotes only, like this:

     1. ChatGPT, response to "Prompt," OpenAI, July 16, 2023, https://chat.openai.com/chat.

  • If you do have a URL that allows a reader to view the output (either share the URL provided by the tool itself) you can use this form to include the entry in your Bibliography.
  • Although ChatGPT does not provide access to the link, Perplexity's link is sharable so the instructor can click and see the students' conversation.
