If you use Google Scholar while on the 'Iolani campus, you will automatically see “Full Text @ 'Iolani” links next to article citations. This means that you have access to those articles in full-text from the 'Iolani Library.
To use this feature while off-campus, add 'Iolani School to your Google Scholar settings.
Google Scholar's Library Links are not completely comprehensive. If you do not see a "Full Text @ 'Iolani" link next to an article you're looking for, you can double-check by using the library's Publication Finder.
Search for the title of the journal that the article was published in, then check to see if the date range for our full-text access includes the article you are looking for.
If the article you are looking for is not available through 'Iolani or freely available online, you can submit an interlibrary loan (ILL) request and we will try to find the article for you from another library. For more information about our ILL service, visit the Teacher Resources LibGuide or talk to a librarian.
Google Scholar can also be used to check if an article not in the 'Iolani Library collection is freely available online, such as in an institutional repository or open access journal site.
If there is an article you are looking for that 'Iolani does not have access to, search Google Scholar using the citation information. Links to full-text will appear to the right of the search result.
Google Scholar can be a useful tool to find out the number of times an article has been cited by others.
To do this, search for an article in Google Scholar, then look for the “Cited by…” link underneath the article result. Click the link to see what other sources have cited the article.
This information can give you a sense of how much impact a certain article has had on the field of research, as well as lead you to other relevant sources.
